Notice of Election

The first election for a Mayor of the East Midlands Combined County Authority will take place on 2 May 2024. The notice of election can be viewed here: Notice of Election

The Mayor will be directly elected by residents in Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Derby, and Nottingham, giving them more influence over issues which affect them.

The issuing of the notice of election marks the beginning of the pre-election period, the period of time immediately before an election when specific restrictions on communications activity are in place. Guidance is provided by the East Midlands Combined County Authority and can be viewed via this link: Pre-Election Guidance

This guidance provides advice on the publicity restrictions that should be observed during the pre-election period. The pre-election period applies to all Councils in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. The guidance should be read in conjunction with any produced by your own monitoring officer which may provide specific advice relating to your local circumstances.

It is important to note that pre-election rules restrict activity wider than just publicity. Use of council facilities and resources; the member’s code of conduct, developing new policies and holding of events – including some meetings – featuring elected officials should all be carefully considered during a period of heightened sensitivity.
